Metallica Vs. Pantera
Its the Ultimate Thrash show down!!!!!
But who is the better band in your opinion???
Theres no doubt that both bands made stunning music, althogh i think its time Metallica gave up, Load, Reload & St. Anger didnt do it for me! The best Metallica for me was up untill the black album. Albums like Master of Puppets and Ride the lightening are played a lot in "Trash Heights"
Pantera.... what can i say??? Vulgar Display Of Power is a ripsnorting album, first class... Dimebag Darryl was a genius guitarist... dirty filthy riffs! Pantera were always that bit heavier, until cowboys from hell cam along and the beautifull Cemetary Gates... An Epic to rival many of Metallica's giants!!!
So what do you think???
Cast your vote!!!!

Pantera were never heavier before Cowboys from Hell/cemetary gates - they were a dodgy glam metal band in the pre-Phil days before that album!!Whitetrash wrote:Pantera were always that bit heavier, until cowboys from hell cam along and the beautifull Cemetary Gates... Same here.1blue wrote:I have heard of metalica but that as far as it goes
I like the song where, in the video, they are on top of a rock column in Arizona or somewhere and Tom Cruise is hanging around. Then the singer is driving some cool car followed by a wave of destruction, then the drummer jumps out of a skyscraper, and the other guy gets chased by a plane.
What's it called again ?

I have to admit i basicly disregard their efforts before Cowboys you only have to check out the "Groovy" album sleves to be physicly sick, but then i cant ever forgive Metallica for "Hero Of The Day" or shit like that!!!! so we'll compare them thus....
Metallica Pre Load
And
Pantera Post Cowboys From Hell
Fair?????

Re: Metallica Vs. Pantera
nope. seriously. before cowboys.. they had a totally different sound. first three albums had a different singer (Terry Glaze); dimebag (rip) was "diamond" daryl abbot, Rex was "Rex Rocker" and they all had big hair etc etc etc. Cowboys was the first album with phil that you'd recognise as pantera. but of course you probably knew that...Whitetrash wrote:Have You been smoking something?????!!!chris_1127 wrote:Pantera were never heavier before Cowboys from Hell/cemetary gates - they were a dodgy glam metal band in the pre-Phil days before that album!!Whitetrash wrote:Pantera were always that bit heavier, until cowboys from hell cam along and the beautifull Cemetary Gates... either way id say pantera, just cos i dont remember metallica ever releasing anything that had as much impact as anything off vulgar display of power or far beyond driven when they started playing it in clubs and stuff. but give me max-era sepultura over either band any day
