My advice to any biker would be NEVER EVER EVER put cheap tyres on your bike. You never know what they are going to be like and if they turn out to be crap it can be very costly.
Besides I've seen how u ride that zxr400 and i wouldn't have thought u would want cheap tyres on it.
i'm sure that David Coates or some other similar stunter uses and endorses them - if they stand up to the abuse that they put them through i dont think i'd have any worries about using them. Theyve been on the market for ages, and i havent heard any horror stories about them....
Speak to Gupa-P in Plymouth, I'm sure you'll get a good deal from them. Failing that, if you're after cheap tyres look at Busters or M&P, they often have deals on Dunlop D204's for £99 a pair, or Avon's for same money etc...Probably better than that brand?
But I agree with Andrew - Don't be a cheapskate when it comes to Motorcycle tyres, get a brand that you recognise/know/trust. Its the only thing between you and the road. If you haven't got the money, then save up, or buy used maybe. Places like RPM in Plymouth do 2nd-hand tyres cheap sometimes.
The problem is that tyres are like bike - everybody has their favorite. Because of Busters etc selling tyres cheap, you can go to Gupa P and get good quality front and rear fitted to loose wheels for £150 a pair so cheap tyres are not worth bothering with.
Cool, thanks for your help.. I havent ever heard of them!! I've been buying used tyres lately because I need decent rubber, but cant afford the price of them... so last few times been buying second hand track day tyres and riding around for 1500-2000 miles on them till I hit the thread.
Lee, My mate ran those tyres for a while when he was skint and had no issues initially. He is the fastest guy I know on the road but he is very smooth and holds a lot of corner speed which cuts down braking and acceleration. On his second pair the front blistered after we went out one hot afternoon and were nailing it everywhere. He said he never felt it on the road but never risked using them again. He contacted T/Hawk to complain and they gave him a F**k off pill. In this day and age of H&S everywhere you will probably find the tyres are ok but they have been on the market a long time selling cheaply and are not a leading brand. Why not? Hope this helps mate. Tom
I had a Concorde remould on a old bike, long story but the bike shop gave it to me. They have such a mean profile it felt like the bike could lean and lean, they stuck quite well. These were on a RS125 so not a great amount of power to shread them.
Hi Lee,
I've been worked at Gupa-P for 7yrs and I have never heard of those tyres. Sounds like you should leave well alone dude!!!!
Give us a ring. 01752 228118. Ask for Tomo. You may be suprised that quality rubber aint always expensive! If/When you pop in, come and say hello.
