Battery Problems ...

Hi all just a quick question for those who might know. Had a problem with the TRX last thursday where it broke it down At the time we thought it might have been a fueling problem, cos there was a lot of crap in the bottom of the tank and I had had the tank off recently and may have dislodged some of it causing a blockage.

However the battery was fully discharged as well which we put down to constent attempts to restart.

So I recharged the battery popped it back in started the bike up, but nothing happened .... Right ... Took the battery back out, got it on the charger and the battery is fully discharged again.

Now is this a fault somewhere in the electrical system causing this is it just that the batterys feckered?

Any ideas anyone?

When my reg/rectifier was knackered was told it can knacker the battery too.

Could be a few things sprocket.

First of all I would recommend you try jump starting the bike from the car or try using a battery that you know works fine. Or even try bump starting the bikes Jak lives on top of a hill which is ideal But before u try starting the bike make sure it has plenty of petrol.

If the bike starts then you may find either:
a. the battery is knackered and will no longer hold a charge (how old is the battery??? they don't last for ever. but before you buy a new one first check the regulator/rectifier (this is easily checked using a multimeter) just to make sure that isn't what caused the battery to go. and then check that
b. your battery charger isn't knackered.

if the bike doesn't start off the car / replacement battery then let me know.

if you charged it, put it in and it was flat. All in a short space of time with no cranking of the engine, your battery is fcuked.

To check if it is the battery Use a slave battery with the your one still installed.
When when the bike is running disconnect the slave.
If if stops or runs rough as f the battery is knackerd.

I know from a past Haldon Grill visit and we all know about that one

All sorted ... in the end it was the battery. Popped my Sv battery in and it started up no problem, took her out for a spin to check that it was all ok and she's running beautifully again :D:D (sprocket)
