is it normal........?
iv got a lil Aprilia Sonic GP 50cc Scooter, is it normal for the bike to make a big cloud of smoke wen i warm then engine up to go out for a ride? it does this whether its warm or cold weather! im not sure if its normal or not, i keep the 2stroke oil topped up and iv checked all of the things i thought it would be on my scooter! does anyone know anything i could look at or do to sort this problem out? Simown x x
Thats the automatic choke.. Someone else here would know more than me about 2 strokes, but if its only when you start the bike to warm up.. and goes when you ride it, the engine needs more fuel hence more oil to start the bike, once it heats up the choke turns off and the fuel/air mixture changes.

well i put the choke on so the bike will start, i leave it to run on that for a while so it can warm up, but whilst its doin that there is so much smoke comein from the exhaust, my bike wont move for a lil while when i turn that off, its goes really slow then its alrite after a while! plus my steerin is wonky, when i drive it isnt smooth, it feels like im movein the handle bars in a figure of 8. iv checked the alignment wit the front wheel and the handlebars and thats fine! does that sound like my forks are bent? x

sounds more like a buckle in the wheel, or knackered wheel bearings.
Pivot the bike so the front wheel is off the ground. Spin it and see if it wobbles. If it does, grab the top and bottom of the tyre and try to "rock" the wheel. If you can feel movement and a bit of a "rattle" you need new wheel bearings. If there is no movement but the tyre "wobbles" when the wheel spins, either the tyre or the wheel is deformed

Check front tyre pressure, it's hard to tell just by looking at scooter tyres

Aye, I will back up, 2 strokes smoke a treat. And its boggy because its cold and all 2 strokes are boggy till there warmed up as the petrol also lubes the engine, and if the 2 stroke comes in quicker than the petrol it takes a while to un-choke its self so to speak!
But the wheel. Could be bent wheel, bent forks, flat tyre, mangled bearings in either the wheel or headstock, or bent bars?
Give us a shout if you need a hand, I'm quite handy with a hammer
