My B!tch I mean bike (Triumph speed triple 955i ) recomends Mobile 1, dont know whats is in it but it was services three weeks ago when I bought it, the gear change from first to second seen a bit clunky although it goes in without any problems. Any ideas or should I change the oil to the recomended one.

mopre often the better mate, notice it gettign dry , just grease that puppy up. cus u can buy those little tools to keep the cahain constantly, and increses the life on a chain laods, so the more the merryer mate. as wiht the oil. surpose best to put reccomened oil in it i would have thuygh. dont really knwo.ARNOLDSNIFFALOT wrote:

the important thing with oil is to avoid mixing fully synthetic with semi synthetic. It shouldn't have to be mobile 1 but its probably best not to mix different makes. Tbh though if your gear change is clunky (remembering triumphs are often less slick than jap bikes) its probably got more to do with you chain. If you are commuting on the bike you should be looking to clean, lubricate and adjust it once a week, and during the winter it will probably need lubricating every couple hundred mile. It is well worth investing in a scot oiler too.
Buy a haynes manual and it will tell you all you need to now

They do not spill any oil onto the tyre and worth every penny.
PS: always lube your chain after a ride and not before, as the chain is warm and exspands once it cools it shrinks back to normal size.

i have never had one of these little monsters, some people swear by them, but i prefer to do my own chain every week. at least then i take the blame if it gets crappy , instead of forgetting to fill the oiler.
each to their own i spose, there are always gonna be "pro's and cons" "for and against".
its like anything, buy the best you can afford...if you really need it.

If you loobed your chain every week without fail and kept really good care of it I bet the Scottoiled chain would still last atleast 50% longer, maybe more. I used to take great care of my chains on my old bikes, even riding 30miles a day through winter it was kept well loobed (at great expense with chain loob/wax) never a spec of rust on them and only managed to get about 10k miles before it was totally stretched to the limit.
Then... I got a new chain fitted on my GSXR750 and a oiling system, done 8,000 miles (mostly over winter) and it had not stetched a tiny bit only adjusted when new tyres were fitted, in that time I had spent £5 on a bottle of oil, not 5-10 cans of loob like I would have done without the oiling system.
Not to mention it's easier to clear your wheel.
Anyone who doubts them clearly has never had the pleasure of using one. end of.
