gixxer fuel warning!

Post by tobyedmunds »

on a blat this morning towards launceston, and the red light came on as did the fuel sign (Fl) on my speedo. fueled up to find it wasnt empty at all! usually the orange light on the left hand side flashes before the red light comes on???! confused!
just checked the manual, and that warning is for fuel, oil and temperature. but everything was fine!!

not too worried cos once i started up again it went off, but does anyone have any ideas?

i had that snag with my old gixxer, apparently its nowt to worry about tho, take it in to GT's and get it plugged in to the magic box to be sure tho. shouldnt cost you anything either.

Or you could see what the problem is your self by putting the bike into dealer mode...

If your FI warning light is on you need to get the error code by getting your bike into dealer mode - dead easy; heres an explanation of how to make a switch to put it into dealer mode (dont bother with the switch just bridge the necassary wires ) turn on the ignition and instead of a flashing FI you will get an error code or c00 if everythings ok...

click on the first link "dlr/kill/security"

http://81x.com/bugman/gixxermods

then when you have the error code post here, if your bikes running fine odds are it could well be a C28 error. easy and cheap to fix (both my K1 750 and K2 1K suffered from this one - its just a simple cable replacement/adjustment)

mate

do u have an alarm and immobiliser on it??? on my old gixxer 600 k1, i had the same thing happen too me!!!

turns out it was something to do with the immobiliser interfering with the f1 warning system!!!

it was a meta 357T if i remember correctly

could be the same snag???

hope this helps

this is a good point.

Meta's and datatool system 3's do that if you accidently turn the ignition on before disarming.

Meta 357T alarms have a habit of interfering with something not to do with the alarm, only a couple of months ago did my Dad manage to completely arm my bike with his own fob for his bike. I had to get the alarm reset!
