my bike keeps dying
just lately everytime i start the bike it dies on me unless i rev the bejesus out of it, choke can be on, the engine can be warm sometimes i'm halfway up the road and it dies.It fires up quickly enough on the button when it does die its just bloody annoying having to rev the **** out of it when i'm in town. The bike is a fireblade dont know if relevant to problem but it is dyno'ed.

Things to check:
Fuel tank vent is clear
fuel filter is clean
carb float bowls and jets aren't filled with crud
there's no kinks in the fuel pipes
check the float levels are right
make sure it has enough fuel
does it have a fuel pump
if so:
is the pump working?
is the pump clogged?
If it starts and fires fine, and then peters out, i would suggest it's most likely to be a fuel starvation issue of some kind - just follow the whole system through from tank to cylinder in a logical manner. Don't forget the fuel tank breather though
Oh, just seen your note about "dyno'd" - does that mean you have fitted a dynojet kit, or someone else has? if so, was it checked afterwards, and did you get the needle / pilot settings right ?

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Re: my bike keeps dying
are u saying that the bike won't idle at all?? when does it die on you throttle open or closed?? Also are u saying that the bike won't restart unless u give it some throttle (or will it start with the throttle closed?) Remember the bike uses different jets when idling than it does when your riding.moppatop wrote:just lately everytime i start the bike it dies on me unless i rev the bejesus out of it, choke can be on, the engine can be warm sometimes i'm halfway up the road and it dies.It fires up quickly enough on the button when it does die its just [Censored] annoying having to rev the **** out of it when i'm in town. If the bike ticks over fine and then dies when u try to ride off then its fuel starvation but if it runs fine but won't tickover then thats something else.
so it turns out.........sometime i do give a f*ck
Re: my bike keeps dying
Fuel pump pulse relays are weak on all cbrs matey. Problem is that the relay is on the top of the pump so you need a whole new pump.moppatop wrote:just lately everytime i start the bike it dies on me unless i rev the bejesus out of it, choke can be on, the engine can be warm sometimes i'm halfway up the road and it dies.It fires up quickly enough on the button when it does die its just [Censored] annoying having to rev the **** out of it when i'm in town. Generally the pump relay only fails if there is a high current passing through it. If you dont sort the high current issue then a new pump will also fail in 9 - 12 months.
Not saying this is your problem but it has all the symptoms of this issue.
