KillSpills Rally 9th September 2006

KillSpills are holding their third annual rally on the 9th September 2006.

The aim of the KillSpills Campaign is to show the Government, industry and general public the dangers diesel spills represent to all road users, whilst promoting motorcycling as a safe and responsible form of transport.

Rally riders are asked to arrive at the Ace Cafe London, Ace Corner, North Circular Road, Stonebridge, London, NW10 7UD for 11am. KillSpills Marshals (wearing yellow t shirts) and the KillSpills Team (wearing red t shirts) together with the BMF (also in red t shirts) will be available to answer any questions you might have about the campaign.

When you arrive at the Ace Cafe London please park your bike where instructed to do so by a marshal. Drinks, food and toilets are available at the Ace and a limited number of goodies and KillSpills t shirts are available to buy on the day from the BMF stand. However to avoid disappointment you can order your t shirt in advance by following the link below.

Instructions to rally riders about the day will be in the form of an A4 note which will be available at the Ace and via our marshals, all you need to do is pick one up from the bar or tables, or ask a marshal or team member. Posters covering “Rally Etiquette” will also be displayed on the day.

The Rally is designed to be a fun filled day, whilst still delivering an important road safety message to the Government. All junctions will be closed by the Metropolitan Police BikeSafe London Team to provide you with an uninterrupted ride from the Ace Cafe to the Palace of Westminster and back. Approximate timings and the route we will follow are shown below.

The rally will re-group along Constitution Hill before making our way past Buckingham Palace. Marshals will be handing out KillSpills stickers to the public at the Palace, and at Trafalgar Square.

When the rally arrives at Westminster you will be asked to park up in a herring bone fashion along the kerb, rear wheel facing into the kerb. It is important that we get the bikes as close together as reasonably possible as parking space is limited and we will have a lot of bikes to park. We will be leaving Westminster at 15:15. At 15:00 riders are asked to return to their bikes, put on their helmet and wait for the signal to start their engines, which will come from a marshal. We realise that this might seem excessive, however the success of this years’ rally and the possibility of future rallies will be measured in how efficiently we get in and out of Westminster, so we ask you please to assist us.

On our return journey, the rally will re-group along Horse Guards Road prior to retracing our steps along the Mall.
