I'm gunning for Air Ambulance. As jonoono69 says they are all worthy charities, but making a choice i feel this holds a particular relevancy to us.

Thanks for doing this speedy. Mel told me there had been a good response and it made my day.

I was particularly thinking a childrens charity. I used to do the MAG Easter egg run every year which went to disabled kiddies homes with Easter eggs and seeing their faces made it, they loved seeing all the bikes. I know we wouldn't all be going to a home/hospice to hand over any money, although I think no matter what charity it goes to some of us should go there at a later date on our bikes.

Although the Air Ambulance is a very good cause, like Moosey says there are other opertunities to donate to them. I think if it did go to the Air Ambulance it should be Devon because that's where the majority of our rideouts are.

I also think it should be a South West based charity because we are a local group.

I'm gonna vote for a hospice/home for disabled/ill children but no matter which of the charities it goes to it will be going to a good one, it's a shame we can't help them all.

Oh and thanks everybody for a good response :D :D 8)

I do like the idea of a childrens hospice, those places do so much for so many and I know for a fact it is one of the hardest jobs you can do both physically and emotionally. I also know that no childrens hospice would be adverse to having 20 odd bikers turn up to present them with money and show the kids a good time. The only problem I see is how gut wrenching it is once you get home and think about all the young lives there.

Have had a look on google and found this children's hospice charity called Childres Hospice South West. They have places in Truro, Barnstaple and Bristol. It's worth a look.

They are all very worth while causes, but best to stick to one for this particular ride

personally i think it should be for something bike related as its a bike rideout and were all bikers. you never know when you'll need the air ambulance and i for one love seeing it flying knowing its there for any of us should we need it,fingers crossed we never will but its reassuring to see it.

as i dont have/like kids the other options wont get owt of me,actually the air ambulance is the only charity i'll ever give too. will always put money in the air amb collection tins

Thought I'd put this post in that I put in the summer rideout topic. The reason being because I think, like I said, it should be voluntry to donate to whichever charity 'wins'. I don't think we should have any way of showing who's has or hasn't donated, eg cable tie on the mirror, so those that don't want to don't have to worry about it, if that makes sense. The reason I bought this up is because as pointed out at the pub meet the summer rideout isn't normally a charity ride, which is a good point. But then the summer rideout is normaly only SWB.

The reason I suggested doing it for charity is if people come from other sites to do a SWB rideout there'll be lots of people so lets do something good.
:D

I would like to open this also to Binnedmybike.com if everyone is happy with this :?: :?: The more the better.
I was thinking about this at work today. If we are gonna have other peeps coming, like you say the more the merryer, why not do it as a charity thing. Every one makes a voluntary donation, say a couple of quid a head, and we give it to a local charity eg disabled kiddies, air ambulance, bike paramedics. You get the idea.

Like I say compleatly voluntry and it's your ride Phil but thought I would suggest it. That way we can have a good day and maybe make someone elses, who is less fortunate the ourselves. :D

I know it wouldn't be loads but lets say it went to some disabled kids it could help towards a day out fro them.

I am new to this site and will be moving to exeter in march hence the reason i am new. I vote for Air Ambulance. I have been at the scene of a few crashes for various reasons and without the air facility i think some of the riders would have died. The crews are very good and need more support.

All of the charities are worth it too...

My votes with the 'Biker on a Budget' charity, of which i happen to be the founder, patron and only member.

Just kidding,im with either the air ambulance or the kids one....if there was a charity which involved poorly kids flying rescue helicopters then it would make my decision a lot easier!

They are all more than deserving tho. :)
Bikeless again :/
