Sounds to me like you're trying to reason with yourself mate ;) It is reccomeded that you use the same manufacturer all round, but the actual tyre itself can change. But if you're going to do it make sure the stickier one is on the front.

Having said that I have run a pirelli and a bridgestone with little fuss, but it doesn't feel as good bridgestone-bridgestone.

You can't go wrong with the pilots mate. Enjoy

2ct pilot's are awesome tyres front and back,i was as quick round oulton park with a set of them as what i was with slicks on. if your planning on doing llandow on the new tyres do yourself and the rest of us a favour and get matching tyres,it'll make such a difference especially if wet. tyres are designed to work as pairs and each make has their own tread patterns so they work together.

the only real way to compare tyres is as a pair not individual unless your talking about k0-k3 racetec compounds etc then you can compare tyre compounds alone

my god - the boys a genius - now if only rossi had thought of that when he was having all his tyre troubles a couple of years ago

I'm running metzeler front bridgestone back. Can definatly notice the difference. Back tyres feels planted much quicker because its a sports touring tyre, front takes longer to warm up and feels vague.
But once their up to temperature can't really notice it.

But If your doing llandow defiantly get a matching set.

just lookin at a front tyres to match it now. seems like the best thing to do.. and i might be able to get a few quid for the continental i have on it at the moment whilst theres quite abit of tread left if I get a new tyre soon.

would a pilot sport be alrite on the front? not a 2ct.. just a 2ct on the back its just that there's £60 difference..

I'd say no. You should always have the stickier tyre on the front.

I've run Pilot Sports for the last two years - originally a pair of "Cup" tyres, the sticky version, and latterly the HPX which is the normal version. I found them good tyres, but I can't see them being an equal match for the Pilot Power (which actually replaced them). They are available cheaper now for a reason - the newer version is better

Whilst it is generally accepted that you should run matched front & rear tyres, I have run mis-matched in the (distant) past with no problems ..... it's generally less of an issue nowadays as bikes tend to wear out both tyres together, but like I said the key is to try and make sure the stickiest tyre is always on the front

roger that. the tyre came today, ordering another 2ct for the front this week.. should both be fitted by teusday

..just bought the front tyre to match.. partly warn for £25 including postage

i just had a new rear tyre put on, before i had BT 010's and they were the best tyres i've ever tried. Totally flawless and an infinite amount of grip.

But apparently they've stopped making them now so i had to get 014s instead, did a run down the cheddar gorge and the back slipped and stepped right out (was a brown leathers moment) however this was the first time since scrubbing them in that i've taken the bike for a good thrash.

Im guessing that the a front 010 and rear 014 should be pretty compatible, but has anyone had any experience with the 014 as it's little slip has lost alot of my confidence in my tyre?
