natural selection is a good thing, although sometimes it could do with a nudge in the right direction.

It used to be 'personal choice' to wear seat belts, helmets, use child seats, have wing mirrors etc.
Also I rode my first motorbike with NIL instruction other than a few words from dad. Took and passed my test after a couple of weeks and went onto a 500 twin. The test took about 20 mins.
Legislation re. clothing may come. I heard that a certain level of gloves are required in some countries .

Agree with Moosey, its your choice and legislation is a Pandora's box of what, where, how's etc. I CHOOSE to wear protective gear, but sometimes its protective 'non approved' gear.Like my steel toe capped work boots, tough denim work trousers with knee pads and a textile jacket over the top. If legislation was brought in, could I just pop down the road during/ after work wearing that perfectly acceptable gear?? I hate seeing kids wearing little or no bike gear but if you grew up in the Seventies and Eighties that was normal.
