Winter is coming......

Post by billinom8s »

..........and many folk get their sorn on with the pride and joy as it's below 20° or there's a chance of precipitation ahead.
So what projects, mods, tweaks or just fluffings do people have going on?

For me I'd just done the trackbike to get ready for portimao (cancelled).
The dirtbike is going to continue to get used, washed and lubed.
The duke I think will come apart for a deep clean and check up.

Over to you...

I took a look at the long term weather forecast last week and got my SORN in before the new month started... tent city for mine now.

One had loads of bugs splats to deal with so it was just a quick garage clean & polish, more akin to a bed bath. Then they were both put in the corner and wrapped in a tent outer. Extension leads connected to the batteries for easy charging and a small heat lamp placed under each bikes sump ready for when the garage starts getting damp.

Trail bike is moved to the front now and is at the ready, might even take that out this weekend.

Other than that I'm dealing with a few rust out breaks on my van, which is something I should have started when it wasn't raining everyday.
Oh and fixing a 125 for a friend to get it through it's MOT.

You don't need road tax to keep insurance on your bike, just need a valid MOT.
As you park it off the road (on your driveway) you could SORN it at the end of this month and re-tax when the opportunity to ride next presents itself.
Since the system went online it's now so easy to buy tax and also SORN that I treat it as a "pay as you go" system.
I've just received a cheque for my tax refund too and I used a banking app on my phone to pay the cheque in, so it was no real effort, you can do the whole thing without even leaving the house. :D
