Hello everyone on S.W.B.
Hello everyone,
I've been crazy about motorbikes and everything related to motorised two wheeled transport since 1989 when I got my first motorbike, a Yamaha YB100. WOW, what a machine that was!
With so many different two wheeled friends been and gone over the years, I am now relegated to being pillion only due to losing my sight in 2009 and now being registered as severely sight impaired (blind), I suppose you can class me as a disabled biker.
Not yet met another totally blind biker but I'm sure there are some out there?
Myself and my partner (the pilot) are so looking forward to getting back out on the roads this summer, it will be great to hear the RD400 singing again. Of course, I'm sure the Tracer 900 will get some action too!
Cheers,
Julian.
P.S. If you do ever reply to one of my posts and only include an image or photograph, I won't have a clue what it is as my computer will simply read out "Image". Technology is great but not perfect.

Re: Hello everyone on S.W.B.
Hi Julian, welcome to the forum.
Never had the 400, I did manage to squeeze in a couple of 350s though when I was younger.
Can't say i've ever met a blind biker, i've seen a few blind drivers though and they all seem to favour bmw and Audi's for some reason, maybe they are quiet or something - who knows???
Hope to get you and your pilot on a run soon.
Now dive on in and get oily.

Re: Hello everyone on S.W.B.
Good to hear you're still keen on getting involved with bikes despite your disability. Takes some balls to ride pillion normally, let alone when you can't see. I guess your other senses heighten to compensate.
Hope you can come out on a ride soon

Great to have you on board and look forward to meeting you. Currently most of the way through an RD250E build and my wife has a GT 250 X7. I feel a classic 2 stroke rideout coming on.
Honda CB1000 GT (on order), Honda CB1000r, Aprilia Tuono V4R for the track, Yamaha RD250E,

Hi Julian ,welcome to the site. If you want to ride again it is possible. Contact Talan who is the founder of The Bike Experience, a charity that gets riders with all sorts of disabilities riding controlled environments ( silverstone & donington). I was a volunteer with them when they first started at Castle combe, and I know that they have successfully had blind riders out on two wheels again. If you are interested look them up, and if you have trouble contacting Talan let me know as I have his mobile number. Jerry.

Hi Julian , I fealt like saying hello particularly because I am a disabled biker ,,, completely different situation .. I lack strength and stamina and other stuff , can walk a matter of yards , use walking sticks and have a light weight mobility scooter on the pillion of my bike and ride when fluctuating health lets me ... anyway hello , disability is a bugger but life is for living , hope you enjoy the rides ..

Love that you put a scooter on pillion, just because I'm sad and it's my job out of curiosity what scooter do you strap downjackinacabin wrote: ↑Apr 28th, '21, 21:24 Hi Julian , I fealt like saying hello particularly because I am a disabled biker ,,, completely different situation .. Re: Hello everyone on S.W.B.
Hi ,,, its called an efoldi .. weighs about 15kg and folds into a small suitcase sized device ... I get help loading and unloading wherever possible as its still a right strain but can manage now and then on a good day at a push ... from an enginneering perspective its an interesting little scooter , the way it folds is clever though time will tell if its robust , the battery gives a good useeable rangle and it clims hills ok for a front wheel drive one , I m very pleased with it so far .. I would love to get some kind of hoist for it on the bike as it hurts loading etc , thinking about contacting nabd about this ....
