where can i learn bike mechanics?

Any General info on Mechanics based on 'all' bikes...

is there anywhere in plymouth that i can do a bike mechanics coarse at college? instead of doin an apprentiship!

i think Exeter College do a course but thats all i know really

Might be worth asking at the CFE, I know they used to do some general mechanics course (mainly cars no doubt)...Or you could ask at a friendly local bike garage if they didn't mind you hanging around on a Saturday or something so you could be shown the "ropes" so to speak. Worth a shot perhaps. :D

yea my mate said i can go down to his garage, but it aint a mechanics garage its a body shop! iv asked at PCFE and PCAD and they do car mechanics but not bike mechanics! which aint ne gud! :(

Engineering is engineering. Learn the principles and the basics and you can adapt to the need be it bikes or cars. I'm a marine engineer by trade, work on bikes for fun and look after multi axis robots for a living. Most of the guys I work with come from different backgrounds and just adapt themselves to the skills they need.

Just do it simown........lefty loosey righty tighty......easy as that lol

just buy a haynes manual, a big professional tool set from Halfords and get on with it and get your hands dirty. Then ask your dad how to fix it when you f**k it up, its how i learnt :)

lol :D theres no where in plymouth that do motorbike mechanics as a full time coarse, i dnt wna do an apprentiship :cry:

if you want to work in a garage though wouldn't it make more sense to do an apprentiship?, at least you can earn whilst you learn 8)

Just pull a motorcycle apart, prefrebly (sp) not your own, and then see if you can put it together, if not walk off and leave it, and say it was like that when you got there.

p.s this excludes my bike :wink:

the way my bike is going at the mo you couldnt make it any worse, when it doent work i find kicking the bloody thing is good doesnt make the bike work but it makes me feel a whole lot better :lol:

I reckon your bike has the simpliest of simply problems.

But its hard to tell without seeing it or hearing it.

Mine made a loud banging noise before, so I turned off the lights, held my finger on the starter with the joke and eventually it started.............seee :D
