navy dave
just a bit of an update on the death of navy dave (david croft),for those of you who didnt know him he was in the navy, based in plymouth and rode a gsxr600,very well liked and respected friend of many.
today i went to truro crown court to witness the sentencing of the lad who killed him.
the outcome was 4 years in prison, and banned for driving for a further 4 years after.
he was charged on 5 different offences and the agonising decision for his family and frinds has been dragged on for nearly a year now.
the lad who killed him turned out to be a right little scruffy nob.
turned up in his baggy trousers and hoody top, with the rest of the family dressed pretty much the same.
both the killer and his brother are renowned around his local area for driving offences, and basically a disgrace to society.
the 5 offences were (forgive me for not using the correct legal terms)-
1. driving under the influence
2. driving away from the scene of an accident
3. driving an un-roadworthy vehilce
4. driving without insurance
5. death by dangerous driving
the judge was faultless, you could see he wanted to give a harsher punishment but due to the lack of back bone in this countries legal system this was pretty much all that he could give.
with great relief to daves family the judge proved that dave was riding within the limit, was not doing anything dangerous and was totally not to blame for the crash.
such a waste of such a great person who had achieved so much and had such a great life ahead of him.
sleep well mate.

RIP.
That is so sad. I hope this is justice? The problem is how someone could prevent something like this from happening again. Without big brother control on bikes/cars there is always that risk on the road. The punishment should be a lot more harsh that 4 years.

Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.
