Now i know why everyone lives in north devon
the roads a fooking amazing. Was up there yesterday, on the a3339 or something like that. Near barnstaple. My god it was about 15 miles of twistys, into straights, into big sweeping bends and back into the twistys with the black and whites on every corner. Not to mention the perfect surface. Someone must know the road i mean, puts most tracks to shame?
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it
A39 to bude prehaps??? very twisty, much fun... but most of the roads are like that.. its a constant surprise in holiday time with the tourists...you know the road and the speed of that corner and then all of a sudden theres your lost holiday maker doing a u turn..if you can't corner and do a stoppie, come to north devon in the summer..you'll soon learn lol!!
nar holiday makers aint that bad just have to watch um coming out of the holiday parks..
i take that road on nearly every weekend or at least once a week..
the only bend that gets me is the milky way because of its history, and the fact the surfacve there coming back in are cruddy..

North Devon roads are good n twisty BUT the surface`s are crap
you will notice it when you go to Bude from Barnstaple on the A39 as soon as you go by the welcome to Cornwall sign the surface is 90% better
to get a real feel for N Devon roads surface go from Barnstaple to Exeter on the A377 one off the worst condition roads in N Devon
been told that the highway is not going to resurface it for years hoping to slow bikes down
i think Cornwall`s got the best roads

road tax is a joke when they never maintain the roads the said payer travels on..
it takes fatalitys for the council to even think about any thing...

ive never really had a prop on that road.. touch wood..
like i said im allways on it its my back yard..!
the roads i drove on were smooth black tarmac for all the corners, luverly jubbely. Was a bit rough here and there on the straights but over all, better than south devon. Only complaint was some seriously wierd drain covers. We stopped in a petrol station and we both had noticed that on nearly every single sharp corner, right on the nice lines was a sodding great drain lid. Especially as it was drizziling all day we had to take wierd lines to avoid them, felt like it was on every corner. Do you guys from up that way know what i mean?
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it
yer the council around here like putting the drains on the best and safest lines..
pedestrian crossings behind walls.
etc..
i want a job in road planning etc...
seems you dont actually have to know what ya doing..
that new round about the big one... hard left on to... three lanes. hard right around. hard left off... wait for the crashes...
good fun when no traffic thou... throw ya self around..

my fella came down from stoke last weekend with his bmw something or other, he's an advanced wotsit too, and all he kept saying was ""another bloody drain cover on a corner..do they do it deliberatley"" he was astounded at the amount there were..I guess I've just got to used to taking the weird line...
i'm sure that if you have an accident on a drain cover in the middle of a corner the council should be liable. I know there are a couple of nasty ones coming from teignmouth.
I remember coming back from Bude simon took us along a road that was so farking fast and empty as hell... I remember passing bimbo at 120.
not really if your reading this pc plod it was nice and safe and within the limit

I'll have a look on the route planner later to see what roads we were using.Tom L wrote:the roads a fooking amazing. Was up there yesterday, on the a3339 or something like that. Near barnstaple. I took us back on the A377 for alex. Didnt see him till Exeter
I see what you chaps mean about it being a poor surface, I guess its somthing you get used to. Call me weird but I like the feeling of my bike squigling in the corners, gets the adrenaline pumping.
