Hey,

Im making a website so people can find their local race tracks. What would you want to find?

seriously though, cheap safe biker friendly hotels near the circuits would be a god idea. the circuit info should be easy to find but not accomodation
another dea would be close petrol stations and also the local bike dealers in case you need parts after a off or tyres cheaper than whats available there

I like the idea of accomadation, mayeb also companies that do trackdays at the particular track and links to their site.

also a link to different weather sites would be good

not sure how much info you want on there and if you can get paid for placing links on your website,if so add different tyre places/suppliers/spares etc

I think a 'one-stop shop' for all infor about racks is a great idea, I know I'm not to ofay with Trackdays and organization etc, but from looking at them you always have to go onto the tracks actual website then onto an organisers.

A closest postcode search would be good start on the site so that you put in your postcode and maybe a mileage your willing to travel and it comes up with a list of tracks then you can click on the track and get all the info suggested on here from that.

It's all about being top of that google list too.

yep definetly worth getting onto the top of the google pile and also getting onto other biker forums like gixer junkies and visordown to get your site more exposure

For fuel station info you could put a link on the site to Petrolprices.com:-

Apart from it being easy to use, the user would get an up to date picture of fuel prices & distances from the track in the local area.

Set up a Google Map with all the circuit locations pinned, you could even add pins for fuel stations, accomodation etc.........bit of work but it'd be a cool feature for your site and useful too.
Users can then use 'map view' and 'Get Directions' options and of course the 'Satellite View' is great as well.

Google allow use of an API for there map system.

I have used it in the past but when they found out it was for a commercial website they wanted us to pay stupid money.

There are plenty of databases around with UK postcodes with their Long/Lat positions. The distance on these can easily be calculated with PHP, I could probably find some sample code from something I done at work.

With using the GD libary on PHP, you can create your own markers on a map, then each of those markers are clickable to reveal more details, or I have made a rollover on one project similar to that of googles.
