The Police and Bikes
Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering what the police attitude to bikers is around these parts. The thing is, i'm not from round here, i'm from Essex, where the police have a good presence at bike meets etc. And my experience has always been of them being friendly and not anti-bike at all.
My Dad has told me that he has heard stories of the police being very anti-bike in the souh west. is this true?
Cheers,
Rob

Re: The Police and Bikes
they have moments of madness the same as any force, one day u might get a talking down and told to piss off. next day you could be thrown in jail for 122mph
just gotta be midful of the force young robbie, if u like to go fast, choose your places, sometimes there will be a crackdown on plates and cans, usually they can't be arsed tho.

I did think of mentioning The 122mph biker, but i thought that it would turn this into a 'should he have gone to jail' thread.billinom8s wrote:they have moments of madness the same as any force, one day u might get a talking down and told to [wee] off. next day you could be thrown in jail for 122mph![]()

I'm not a particularly fast rider anyway, especially as my bike only makes 33bhp
The last (and only) time i was stopped by the police was on boxing day in essex. The copper just wanted a bit of a chat to my pillion about his chosen riding gear, very friendly blokes. Checked my bike over and when they found nothing wrong they let me go.

I agree with this.billinom8s wrote:generally i think that if u don't givee them sh!t, they won't give you sh!t
I think we are quite lucky as there isn't a massive police presence like in bigger citys say London or Birmingham etc
I ride everyday to and throw work and ok its not maybe in the most rush hour times but i havn't been pulled by the police since i was riding my 125cc back 16 years ago.
Choose your place to play wisely and all should be ok

Let's remind ourselves of what you think about the Police, (and of course Police riders, are still the Police).Blimey wrote:I agree with this.billinom8s wrote:generally i think that if u don't givee them sh!t, they won't give you sh!t

Been gunning it for years and never had too much of a problem.
Dont risk other peoples lives
Never speed in a 50 or below
Be fast but not dangerous.
Be courteous if you get stopped. Tell them they have the biggest co.ck in the world if you have to. Yes sir is easier then 6 points.
Coppers are just normal peeps in a cr.ap job. Be nice to them and they will be ok. Be a tw@ and they will have you.
Simple really innit.

Re: The Police and Bikes
I have been pulled once since I started riding in 1976, and that was fair enough as I was speeding.
As others have said strictly observe 30's etc., and choose your places if feeling frisky - it's using common sense about the time and place.
Been pulled lots in cars and trucks, usually for no good reason. I don't think coppers are a bad bunch down here in general.

Re: The Police and Bikes
Only been pulled over once, and that didn't really count, Was in a big group of about 30 peds and 125's who were drag racing in an industrial estate and someone called the police. Searched everyones bike and just gave everyone warnings which was fair enough IMo.
