R6 opinions..

Post by Funky »

A mate of mine sent me this on facebook:
Alright kidda, thought I would pick ure ample brains bout this R6(details below) on bike trader. What do you think,is this a good price? Whats the deal with track bikes,I assume they have never been on the road, no MOT,etc. Do they have to go through any registration, etc to be road legal? Otherwise, are you or any mates thinking about selling, really wish I had that £800 R6 of your hands as now I am loaded(ish ish ish). Cheers buddy

2000 W Reg YAMAHA YZF-R6 600cc
Price:
£1,995
mileage:18,000

Blue. Track Bike with V5 Document. Wavey front + rear discs. Penske adjustable rear shock. New viper titanium race can. Spares incl: Set of wheels. Rear shock. Rear sets. Michelin tyres. For more info please call and ask for Chris. New bike forces a very reluctant sale. £1,995
and i replied with this...
Hey buddy, most trackbikes are that way because they have been crashed and are no longer for road use, so even though it may have a V5, if it was a cat B or A insurance write off it can't go back on the road, so I would check it out.
I'd ask when the penske was last serviced and find out who the discs are by, if they're chinese don't pay extra for them as you'll need to replace them because they're shite.
Otherwise the bike sounds lovely, but I wouldn't pay 2000 for it, probably 1500 maximum.
I'll forward it to some mates so they can put in their 10 pence worth.
The original r6 is a hoot and I do miss mine, it kept up with much newer tackle around pembury! if you need any more mate just give me a call.
So justy want to know what everyone else thinks so I can feed it back to him...

tis ok but what does he want it for is the main question, does he want it for trackdays only if so its expensive, if hes not doing trackdays then stick to a stock bike with all the lights and indicators etc

In todays market, for that money, I would have thought there were better bikes than that out there for the money ........ i.e. a 'blade or an R1 perhaps :?
Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

to be honest i know the bike and considered it myself for a while and decided it was too much money for what it is, at the end of the day by the time you mot and tax it youve added another 100 quid and then its upto road bike prices
