Country Mile Project = Waste of time.
They have 1.5 million to waste on videos like that. Why not just use the money to repair the road surfaces.
My dad got chucked out of the local consultation meeting because he was causing to much of an argument. haha. He came home and didnt stop talking about how much of a waste of time it was for a week.
They are talking about putting up signs about 3 foot tall by a foot wide on all country roads alerting road users to the fact its a shared road!! Well surely anybody driving along a country road would expect to see a tractor, horse or a cyclist any way!!!
Makes me sick

I think that everything in that video is just common scence surely everyone knows that.
Only thing I don't do is the lines, because if you run wide then you are prettty much guarenteed to go into the hedge/other lane.

Nice overspend as usual. Good to see a nice common sense non preachy video though

Horrible road!! Always try to avoid it!!
Re: Have a look, leave a comment.
I have been riding big bikes now for 19 years and my advice to anyone out there that have watched that Video would be this,
Don't follow his lines into right handers, he is riding so close to the hedge he is running through all the crap !
Perhaps they will sponsor a new film aimed at car drivers followed by one for horse riders teaching them how to pick up the shit the horses seem to deposit everywhere.......................nope did not think so !
Nanny state is here again

Agree with about the lines, the very first corner in the vid i thought he was coming off he was so far out

Re: Have a look, leave a comment.
IMO it's a good vid & a step in the right direction regarding rider & driver education.....I say driver as it may give some car drivers out there an insight into what it's like on a bike & why we move around the carriagway ie looking for the best view.
Far better than the usual 'bikers are the sporn of the devil' sort of stuff that we are usually portrayed as
As for road positioning/being too close to the hedge.....what looks close on film can be quite a distance in real life, the camera can lie

I was suprised at how good this was. Ok agreed with the different opinions on lines etc. but any cash spent on these video's means less available for camera vans....and that has to be a good thing.

Re: Have a look, leave a comment.
When I saw this last night I left a sarcy comment about his speed etc.
Seems it's been removed but I don't know why.
I have e-mailed the editor for an explanation but I'm not holding my breath.
For anyone who's interested my comments were based on the fact that at one point in the video he is blatantly speeding and that presumably that is now endorsed by d&c police so long as we do it carefully like in the video.
Guess I touched a nerve.
I've still got the hump from getting pulled last year riding 'safely' but over the limit on the M5.
Rant over

Re: Have a look, leave a comment.
Can't find much info on thier "expert" Glen Julian. I agree on his lines being a little bubious, don't think he has to stress the vanishing point quite so far. I wonder how many times he's traveled that section of road? Be careful people this sort of film can lull you into a false sense of security "if he can do it and get away with it, I can," you might just find a rozzer waiting for you at the other end. But it is nice to see something positive, I just wish they would talk to the people that actually matter, like the bikers & drivers who use these roads regularly to find out what is really needed.

Re: Have a look, leave a comment.
I just watched the vid and agree with everyone's comments, at some points i was actually crapping myself as if i were on the police bike!
But why did the copper follow him for so so long and not tug him sooner? surely the biker in front must have noticed he was being followed by a big white bike? i would never have thought that police bike would manage some of the things it did and it the wet too.
I think the poilce bike was enjoying himself and got carried away, and if he wasn't showing blues and two's he has no excuse for his actions imho.
I never overtake over double lines etc unless the car in front moves over and leaves me plenty of roomand a quick thanks is always a must.

Umm, I think you have the wrong end of the stick. Its not a Police chase video (like police, camera, action), its a Police education video. Made by them. There is no "big white bike" or no "tug".
