Park up or sell up?

Before I start I'm not dying so don't need sympathey Not that i would get any

I have just been told that I have to stay off bikes until I have been an appointment and possible treatment with a spinal surgeon which at best will be 3 months, worst will be no bikes anymore.

The question I am asking is, whould you park the bike up for the impending months in the hope that you maybe might get it back in a few months or would you just sell up and then think about buting another one if and when you can ride again?

Just curious about what other people would do.

I think id probably sell up tbh - shame to have a bik sat there doing nothing !

Plus that way you can try something new if/when you get to ride again! Best of luck with everything btw!

Likewise, Sell it and then when you can ride again pick out a bike that is comfortable for yourself mate. Fingers crossed yeah.

depends on how much you like/love your bike and what it means to you

id probably sell it and then buy something more suitable for your needs once youve had a successful operation, good luck with it all and hopefully you'll be back on a bike next year. use it as a goal to help your recovery,gives you something to aim for,if you sell your bike you can spend the time recovering scouring ebay and bike trader looking for a new bike

What deej says m8, unless the bike meant a lot and you had owned it for years i would rather keep it than see someone else on it, but either way hope you get the result you want Blue...........

I don't tend to change bikes much, and my view is simple - it owe's me nothing, and costs me nothing to leave it in the back of the garage unused - lets face it, many people leave the bike parked in the back of the garage for 4-6mths over winter anyway

Your bike has lost the bulk of it's re-sale value, and a few months ain't really gonna make much difference, and you've modified it from stock which might make it harder to sell ....... park up and see what happens

plus you might get a cancellation and see the specialist sooner (phone up the secretary and say you're prepared to take cancellations)

Just my thoughts but I would park her up, see how things pan out first. As someone else mentioned, some folk would park theirs up for the winter months anyway?

Right now you dont have all the answers to your health situation, I would wait unless having it around seriously pee'd you off, or you needed the cash.

If it was me I would take the time that I am not riding to strip down and do any mods on the bike.

One if the wheels are off and bike in bits you cant ride anyway.
Two it will look the dogs when you get back on in a few months.

park it up. It's there if u need it. Plus if u sell it the cash will get blown on something else. Like bondy said. Spend the time playing with the bike instead of on it.

No NO! Getting complacent isn't a good idea with a lot of things regarding health, but a back problem just isn't something to mess around with. So many people (myself included) have such back problems, but get no specialist help or attention...if you're getting it looked at, take full advantage of the help and advice you're getting. Nothing can be more inhibiting than a back problem! It' so complex, you just don't know the damage you could be doing.

Your choice, but I'd say take a while for health and look forward to getting back on the bike with no regrets. Are you quie excited about the possibility of another bike? If so, you have your excuse....and your answer!

seeing as it is a back problem i would probably take the holiday from bikes and see what happens.
if it was something minor like loss of limb,brain heamorrage?,heart transplant,rectal prolapse etc. i would think sod it and keep on riding

Personally I would park it up get it sorned untill you know what the deal is with your doc, actually forget the doc your best bet is to see a back specailist as doctors can get it wrong, ideally you need a scan and professional diognostic as to the cause and possible fix else long term, then decide what to do. Never know might be something simple like trapped nerve, hope its nothing serious tho.

I decided to sit the bike on padock stands and take some bits of to actually clean the poor thing. Like moose said It's not financed so not costing me anything if it sits there for a few weeks/ months until the surgeons appointment. Just to make sure I'm not tempted the keys are not at home

Hopefully they can sort everything out quickly but if it's going to be too long I'll get rid before the end of 'summer' With any luck I might still make Pembury in september

Ssot. they have already done an MRI scan which is why they have stopped me riding, but thanks for the concern.
