I believe sprints (similar to drag racing) have been/are held at RAF Portreath, which isn't to far from you.
Not sure of dates tho.

There used to be the Sunday Street wars at Seatharpe near Dunkerswell until last year when the nimbys had it stopped  :(

Other than that your best bet is Shakespeare County Raceway near Stratford Upon Avon, or Santa Pod near Wellingborough.

National sprint association run regular sat/sun events at Weston Zoyland airfield near Bridgewater, day licenses are available and as long as you and the bike get scrutineered you can run all weekend. failing that look on the 200mph/Straightliners website for other meets.

The season is about done now but there is a meet at santa pod still to go. Locally its as been said above, there was no Portreth this year but I was told they were hoping to re start next year, details will be on the First and last web site. Next nearest will be the NSA who run weston zoyland and Keevil.

The NSA used to do sprints at Dunkeswell a while back :D

And I seem to remember someone saying they did them at Smeatharpe too :?

Dave is heavily involved with the NSA, but Smeatharpe is no longer used as the surface of the runway became too badly broken up. Weston Zoyland has only a few years of use left for the same reason, it is harder to find WW2 airfield that are still servicable for sprinting as most of the surfaces are breaking up.
