Well, considering that some forces have used "pace-setters" to encourage people to chase in the past ...... it'll be interesting when one of those cases next go's to court

From now on then, ride-outs must be held as a time trial, leaving at 30 second or 1minute intervals. :D

And qualifying will be held on Saturdays

Good job I never lead,

surely from a danger perspective, the person at the front is riding at their limit and so it could be the person 2nd behind them who is more likely to have a crash as logic would suggest that there is more potential for this person to be riding beyond their limit. However I realise this tails off as the group go further back...

I see a research project coming up...

we could all play judus and deny knowing each other when out riding I mean whos to say weather we were riding as a group or weather we just happened to be out riding in the same place, this is serious though I have a friend who's son was jailed for 5yrs because one of his mates went of the road in his car killing himself and passengers the son stopped to give help and called 999. The courts deemed that they were racing and so he was partly to blame and jailed him, he was 18. He would have been better of if he had not stopped and called it in anonimously (spell).

Why would you assume that they are riding at their limit just because they are at the front :? Can't say I ride at 100% very often on the road, whether leading or following

What sort of a crazy country are we living in?

To be responsible for somebody elses speeeds when you're out riding?

Next it'll be "knowingly riding with someone on a motorcycle with an illegal can fitted....."

Six points and your bike crushed cos your friend didn't display his tax disc????????

Very

I lead a big bunch of R3's around Devon during the 1st weekend every May and know from experience that 55/60mph at the front equates to a possible 360mph at the back end just to keep up [excuse the slight exageration!]

Going to need a serious rethink on planned rideouts if this is going to be a test case rule, it's just another risk the front runner has to take along with looking out for potholes/manholes, vermin/sheep, mud/oil, idiot cagers, speedo, gatsos and the guy's behind all being present
As if that wasn't enough to keep you busy and focused on the wellbeing of everyone

surely if out on a rideout you don't have to break the speed limit to keep up, if everyone knows the route, junctions are marked and there are pre-agreed stopping points then no one need speed. they can all just pootle along happily taking in the scenery and marvelling in the delightful villages and jolly old folk making their merry way down the road with a caravan. :D

If all know the roads & route it's fine but most come from outside the region, the "Drop-Off" system works a treat at junctions and roundabouts etc and should reassure all riders and ensure all get there and back in one piece.

I suppose a point of 'no speeding needed' will have to be emphasised before the race... I mean, before the start

Still leaves me nervous about what's going on down through the 2 miles behind, and we shouldn't forget we do all this for the fun of it!
