Get the mrs riding!! (a bike!!)

Post by ZX6Rich »

She said last night that she did like the idea so I thought nothing like a bit of peer pressure to.help her on her way!! Ladies (looking at Smiler, Shammy and Beth) please feel to post a woman's opinion.

Always lovely to have another lady rider in our midst :)):

Do spend some time finding a suitable bike though wont you? I have met many a lady biker whose bike choice hasnt neccessarily been either theirs or right for them!!!!

Tell her good luck with the test, and hope to see her on a rideout before the summer is out. There. Is that enough encouragement? Bring her to the pub Friday mate ;) xx

Been there, done it. Like Andy said, you'll spend most of you're life riding slowly & looking in your mirrors and TBH if you care about her, you'll be worried when she's out by herself

(and who will do the washing if she's laid up :D ).

Plus there is the cost involved, 2 bikes to maintain, 2 lots of insurance, tax, 2 lots of petrol to go to the same place etc.

My ex did enjoy going out on her bike, alot will lose interest when the novelty wears off, it's just that whenever we went anywhere together she jumped onto the back of my bike as she appreciated she was a hindrance. She did use here bike on her day off in the week but even she admitted it was an effort to use it whereas I'd just jump on the bike as a matter of course.

If she is really interested and to save the cost of DAS etc, why not get a DT125R/KMX125 for her to properly learn on, and to learn I mean experiencing bad weather & traffic etc, you will also have a bike you can use for greenlaning etc but FFS, do not wreck it on a lane on a Sunday expecting her to take it to work on the Monday.

The opinion you'll get from the ladies on here are biased, these are women who'd be riding bikes in all conditions regardless of their sex rather than those who are riding because 'it's what their fellas do & it looks cool'. Again refer to my comment above, the girls on this forum would use their bikes because it's second nature to them rather than use the car (except for Beth because she usually has to fix her mini before using it - were you at Trevelgue last weekend Beth?).

Fuse lit, I'll stand well back now.

Forgot to add, it's great to have a slim young woman holding on when you're on the bike. But don't suggest your missus gets a bike so you can take her younger sister on the back of your's though.

I had to type this very carefully so Funky doesn't re-interpret it.
