Recommend me a new Textile Jacket
Need to pick up a new textile jacket for when I am on the ZX6, needs to be waterproof as I wear it to and from when I am in London and I don't have the luxury of a car up there so have to ride in all weathers.
Ideally don't want to spend a fortune, largely due to the fact that I need to buy another touring jacket for the tenere as I recently found out that its not waterproof either, so between 100-150 would be perfect.
Anyone got any good recommendations?

I've got the RST Slice Jacket and Trousers, very good for the money. Around the £100 mark for each item.
Waterproof and windproof also zip together.
It is a short sports jacket if that's what your after.

Recently acquired an IXS goretex touring style 3/4 length jacket on my favourite online auction site. Top quality item, very well made and the armour sits still. Barely 2 years old and was only £30. My old SPADA textile was good until the waterproof lining failed on the arms, still makes a fine summer jacket. Go goretex if you can.

I thought about a 3/4 jacket, as I could kill 2 birds with one stone and where it on the other bike too, but wasnt sure how comfortable it would be on the sports bike.

Have you noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster is a maniac ?
Re: Recommend me a new Textile Jacket
I have just bought a Weise Dynastar, this was to replace the threadbare Frank Thomas crap I bought when I first got into biking.
I've been looking around for a few months and was going to go for a set of Alpinestars (isotex, not goretex), but was looking at the thick end of £300 for a combo. The Weise stuff is easily as good as the Astars stuff, if a little more touring orientated, and it's better thought out/designed, and the armour feels more comprehensive (knox btw).
Jacket goes for £70 on ebay and the trousers for under £100.

With regards to sports capability of my IXS 3/4 .The zip starts at waist height so the bottom two press studs (rubber coated) can be left undone. No jacket to trouser zip though, newer ones might have it ?

Re: Recommend me a new Textile Jacket
Will £100 buy something with decent protection & gauranteed waterproof? I'm not a fan of spending good money on textiles only for them to leak after a short period of time (plus you look like a MZ rider when you wear them off of the bike!!).
I assume you have a decent leather jacket with protection, why not look at an unlined waterproof jacket to wear over this when it's wet.
I bought a Fox AWG jacket from Dameralls for £65 (last one in their clearance) with a view to wear over leathers but it's a bit too good

Alpinestars and most other off road gear manufacturers do similar kit, far cheaper than body armoured kit.

I've just got a set of RST Blade jacket and trousers from J&S Plymouth (also got matching gloves)
Early days but I'm impressed so far. Jacket and trousers came in at £230.
Top service from J&S, no hard sell but there if you need help and advice.

I agree, however the budget will only stretch to 150 ish really, and tbh all of the textile jackets I have every had leak, hence my asking for recommendations, as I really dont want to be chucking cash away.graham22 wrote:Will £100 buy something with decent protection & gauranteed waterproof? Normally I wear my one piece everywhere but its a pain when going to work, so its only really for commuting, although I am sure I am just as likely to have a get off, riding in London as tanking it through the lanes in the south west
