We had a demo of the newest Helite hi vis on Saturday at Castle Combe and were very impressed (by the product not the demonstrator or the price). I've always been aware of the concept but in person it was even more impressive.
After my "accident" last month I can see the advantage of the back/front protection as my bruised ribs are still the most painful after-effect. Then the way it braces the helmet would have stopped my temporary neck soreness. I got away with minor impact (apart from landing on the tarmac after my brief flight) and what I was wearing performed well but a few miles an hour more or a less fortunate angle or location and maybe I'd need the extra protection. But £900 for the two of us...
So I wondered if anyone had ever had an incident wearing an air vest and how well it worked.
We did also briefly look at a cheaper alternative but the Helite did seem extremely well thought through and made.
Anyone experienced Helite or similar air vest in action?

I know that Farmermatt and his wife wear them or a version or airbag vest and even though it has been very tempting to pull the cord I haven't seen it go off,
I can see the facination with then trying to prevent injuries but they are still pricey.

The demo included pulling the cord and inflation which was what made it so clear they could help a lot.

Hello
Yes me and the wife have one. Not tried them out in flight. I bought mine at the nec couple years ago for a good price at the time.
I must admit I don't always wear mine out but I like the fact we can wear them touring and I don't need to wear a back proctor as it all in the air vest.
I watched a video of the horsey people falling off with the jackets on on youtube and I was impressed in how well they worked.
Would I buy one for £450 each I don't know is the answer. I think I feel better when the wife is wearing hers and she always rides with it.
