New to Cornwall
New to Cornwall
Hi every one . My name is Graeme. I am new to Cornwall, st newlyn east. My one and only passion is motorbikes. I am a dissabled rider,( not a trike) and would be keen to meet up with fellow bikers in Cornwall so would appreciate any tips on meets and ride outs. I have had all sorts of bikes from fazer, which I did the knowledge of London on, 954 blade,Ktm duke 2, Ktm 990 superduke, MV Augusta 1000 biposta f4, aprilia tuono factory, fjr 1300 , and now, simply the best I've owned and ridden ,the beast, 1290 super duke. So if any one feels like including a X London cab driver and would welcome me in,that would be great. I've been coming to Cornwall for 50 years, sometimes 4 to 5 times a year so not a complete newbie. Thanks for reading.

Re: New to Cornwall
Hello Graeme, Welcome to the site and to Cornwall
.
We're a bit quiet down here at the moment, I'm in the middle of transplanting an engine in my bike so I'm off the road, another Graham on here is mostly half way up the side of a wooded hill, trying not to 'dab' and get a clear round etc. ( Trails riding ;) ), there are a few others dotted around the place but when it gets warmer and drier things will no doubt liven up!
At Easter the bike nights will begin, the closest one to you will be at Cornwall Services, usually every Thursday evening or down my way there is Hayle Bike Meet, at Hayle Mc Donalds, every Tuesday evening. They are usually both fairly busy depending on the weather. I'm not a regular go'er but usually bimble along to a few of both through the spring and summer, if I'm going I generally post up.
If you fancy a ride to Redruth this weekend, I'll be in my workshop today and tomorrow getting the GSXR back together, and hopefully may be up and running on Sunday! If all good me and a mate will be taking a shake down run to Godrevy Café for coffee. You are more than welcome to come down and hang out, drink coffee, pass spanners or if you are mechanically minded, get stuck in with me
.
Anyway, enjoy the site and hope to see you at a few rides meets etc.

Re: New to Cornwall
Thanks for the invite, but I'll decline this time as I haven't moved yet. I'll be officially moved down on Feb 19. Then I will be definitely up for ride outs. Need to wake up the beast as she's been sleeping for the last 5 weeks. Weather been crap, and yes,I am a fair weather rider. I did three years of knowledge and dispatch riding in London,so I've had my fair share of crap weather. Don't mind the cold,as long as it's dry. I like to get out for a blast every weekend ,weather permitting.

Re: New to Cornwall
Still in Epsom Surrey at present, but sold house and bought st newlyn east. Can't wait to get the beast out on them Cornish roads. Ridden some before on my old fjr with the wife ,but that thing ain't got a patch for handling like the superduke. Always regretted getting rid of my old 990 superduke, but this is by far the best bike I've ever ridden. I've adapted it to change gear on handlebar as my left leg is missing. In fact out of every bike I've ever had,the fjr is the only bike I could test ride as it was the A S model. Anyway,if you see, hear a black 1290 orange frame, give me a wave because I intend to be out and about a lot. Thanks for all your response
Re: New to Cornwall
Hello Graeme - from Graham, in Cornwall with a 990 Superduke.
Re: New to Cornwall
Hi graham, what colour is the 990?
Re: New to Cornwall
Titanium - it was the first one in Cornwall, I've owned it since new, 10 years!
At the time people didn't understand why I sold my GSXR1000 to go for a naked bike, now look at the super naked market.

Re: New to Cornwall
Thanks to g-girl for the welcome. And Graham ,I had the black one. I had a 954 blade before that, and people said the same to me,until we went on ride outs, then they could understand why I chose the 990. I have played with a few other bikes like I mentioned in my first post, but nothing gave me the grin factor that the Ktm did. Even Ktm themselves stole my caption for their advert . It read something like" buy in the morning, wheelie by lunchtime and doing a track day by the evening" ( never gave me squat for it though) only my name was mentioned. I can't come up with a caption for the 1290 beast yet. Simple the best handling bike ever, the most powerful bike I've ever ridden, also jeremy McWilliams said the same as he helped in the development of it. The best grin factor you'll ever get. This will be my last ever bike. I don't believe anything else will ever be as good. Now,a lot of you will argue, but I have to add,you can commute on this ,you can tour on this,it can be extremely economical ,and you can put it on any track day. Can't do all that with any bike. Sorry to bang on guys and girls, and thanks for all the friendly welcomes from you all. Always makes me laugh when you ride, receive constant head bobs off other riders, then you turn up at a big bike meet like box hill, and not one mother f----- even acknowledges you at all. What's that all about? I

I only just manage to read properly Your opening essay ;)
Pardon me expression but "HOLY F*CK" Impressive collection of toys You had pleasure to play with!
I am getting same treatment. I think it's because when you are on the bike, you are in disguise. Costume you are wearing gives you that power of feeling to be someone you always wanted to be from the moment you start up your bike =instant euphoria. From that shy, simple, normal person to superhuman in one twist. As soon you stop, remove your disguise all your powers are gone...
I am not that person, I will say "Hi" first
hmmmmm saying that, I will most likely start conversation with a lie, for example: "Hi, I really like your bike!" ahahahah As obviously I think my bike is the best in the World

Re: New to Cornwall
Well g girl,I think you will be honest in saying you like my bike. Which bike do you have and where abouts in Cornwall are you? I find with some of my previous bikes, take the 954 blade for instance, bearing in mind mine was one of the first in the country, and defiantly the first yellow one as it was a import,I would go to box hill, which if you don't know is a really massive bike meet and has been for donkey years, get ignored whilst I was with the bike, but as soon as I walked away, swarms of people would be all over it. The same goes with my 1290 superduke as it was one of the first ones. I don't go box hill any more as it does attract the boys in blue and anyway,I'll be down your way in about 3 weeks or so. Will definitely meet for a ride.im not fussed about traveling as that's why I bought the thing. My only pet hate is straight roads. Me need twists and turns.speak soon
