Yeah i guess its just a hard lesson learnt - but i certainly am glad that the barrier was there, otherwise i could have ended up in the trees....not sre if the river is over that side or not ?

there's some nasty drops ovr some of those bends - friend of mine went over one on an srad a few years ago, taking out the bandit behid him in the process and dropping to sopmeones garden from some height - lucky they werent too badly hurt really. the woman whose garden they landed in said that they weren't the first to "drop in" that year.

Id rather not have the barrier there and take my chance with the trees and foliage. Armco like that gives me the creeps and is highly likely to kill you if you hit it sliding at at speed. I bet there are very few times it is going to help a motorcyclist any.
the best example of scary armco is definately at the nurburgring, there are a couple fast corners where you get quite close to it cranked right over.
