Gears....what gears!

Any General info on Mechanics based on 'all' bikes...

Gears....what gears!

Well yesterday i noticed the gear shift was a bit stiff and that it couldn't always find the 1st and 2nd gear, and today ive just gone out to start it and i cant really move the gear shift at all, its like its ceased right up!?
What could this be guys? Cheers all

Have you checked the oil level as this can cause that problem.

hope fully its not as seroius as oil - but might also be worth checking the linkage shift rod has not come loose as this is a 30 second job to fix...

happened to me - i was stuck in first gear, it just would not change up, stopped and noticed, whipped it off and tigthened it - job done...

i hope its that simple for you - but remember this was a suzuki and i know f-all about kwaks... :lol:

Cheers for the input you guys, but i have sorted it now, also cheers to Andrew as i disturbed his day of rest :D It was at the foot peg end of the linkage, so built up with crap from the road it just stuck solid....with a can or so of wd40 and a tub of grease it seems to be fine again, but thanks again all. 8)

I get it quite alot on mine, I used to use a wax based chain lube, but using the bike everyday in the rain, the wax can congeal itself around the linkage inside the front sprocket cover, just keep an eye on it & it should be fine mate. :D
