Did you know Exeter had a motorbike manufacturer?

Post by layne »

Found out about this during the lockdown.

Started by a member of the well know Wheaton family in the 1920’s.

They used engines from MAG, British Anzani, Rudge Python and JAP, and even frames from Brough Superior.

There is a small collection of them in the Lake district.

This really interest me as an Exeter lad, I knew about the Wheaton empire but no idea about the bikes. Next trip the lakes I’ll definitely drop into the museum. Thanks for posting.

The Lakeland motor museum definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in those parts, interesting bikes and cars. Last time I was there they did tell me ''no, we don't allow test rides on the Vincent''.
