i was riding my 1999 svs home last night and it just cut out. the lights stayed on and all the normal electrics seemed to work. but when i pressed the starter nothing happened at all. i didnt knock the kill switch. there is'nt even a noise comeing from the starter at all. any idea what it could be. help would be much apreciated. many thanks. jamie
Yeah water logging was a big problem with a lot of the old SVs. Shame SV650.org is down otherwise you woulda been able to find a lot more information on it. Try svrider.com and have a look on the forums there a lot of the guys from sv650 frequent there too.

it woudln't explain why it cut out but have a look at the electrics behind your starter switch. They went on my last bike, bit of rewiring and it worked fine agian.
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it
Check the fuses
Bypass any cutouts - sidestand switch / kill switch
Sounds like one of those is cutting your electrics.
Plugs / coil / petrol will not stop the starter from working
cheers for all your help chaps. it ended up being the ignition coil fuse. cheers for the help. i am usally a regular user of sv650.org just thought it wouldnt load on my computer for some reason so thanks for that bit of information aswell. cheers. jamie
